The Fireman by Joe Hill

2.0

I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn’t. There was as much to keep track of as with traditional fantasy novels, but without the fun parts of traditional fantasy. The book also had a major pacing issue: I alternated between boredom and overwhelm for virtually the entire book. Mr. Hill took about 20 minutes to describe a bland sexual encounter between two people, but took half that to go over 20 days of what could have been really interesting content. After reading Station Eleven, masterpiece that it was, this book was mind-numbing in comparison. 2.5 stars.
