Maomao can step on me and I will thank her <3

I am very aware how sassy our female lead is, but saving a high-ranking consort’s life while putting the court maids who wanted to bully her in their rightful place was just so stunning. No one is able to step on her, she practically deflects them all with just a single look. SHE’S SO GORGEOUS. And the way she enjoys consuming poison and actually wished she drank more of it– WHAT A QUEEN. In a masochistic and unhinged way I guess, but still A QUEEN.

I find it cute how she received so many jewelleries at the winter banquet (which supposedly symbolises that she belongs to the person who gave them to her) but she simply just did not care about the meaning of it. I’m pretty sure Jinshi is bummed about it; he clearly worried about her more than a simple ‘eunuch’ should be doing. I have theories on who his real identity is, but I’m happy to wait until it is actually revealed!

But the part where Maomao explains to Jinshi that she actually painted freckles on her face to appear ‘ugly’ so that men won’t pull her to any back alleys made my heart stop. This is the truth even in real life. I can see why a lot are saying this manga series are so female-centric or feminist, as it sheds light onto a lot of things regarding women and the things they go through. I want more of it <3
