THIS VOLUME WAS SO GOOD!
This series is now becoming my personality along with Sk8 the Infinity. It is truly proving to be so much better than I expected!
One of my favorite things about this volume is that we got to see more of Sato’s backstory. We 100% confirmed that his friend was his boyfriend, so the loss of him has made it difficult for him to express how he feels through song. And to be honest the flashbacks in here to Sato’s and Yuki’s relationship were truly what MADE this volume. First, we had that scene where Yuki is protective of Sato because Sato’s dad was an abusive piece of shit. Then we have the memory of Sato and Yuki at the beach and Sato acknowledging how the details of this memory will inevitably fade? GodDAMN. My heart was just put through the ringer.
Apart from Sato’s past, I loved his interactions with Uenoyama in this volume. For one, it was sweet as hell how much Sato was impacted by the fact that Uenoyama “gave up” at one point in this volume and stopped pushing Sato to do his best. Sato appreciates being pushed to improve and to put himself out there, so I liked him calling out Uenoyama for not doing that. And then on top of that we had an Uenoyama and Sato kiss???? Be still my heart!!! It killed me that Uenoyama kissed him and then straight up walked away 😂 Poor Sato left to deal with both having put his heart out there by singing about his ex and then having his new love interest kiss him. What a time!
Finally, I also liked that we had a little bonding moment between Uenoyama and Akihiko in this volume. Akihiko was a good friend and was like, “If you’re weird for liking a boy, then I’m weird because I’ve liked a boy before too.” We love mlm solidarity.
All in all, this series is my life now.
