This book is really harrowing. Higgins' experience being gaslighted and abused at Goldman was hard to read because it was so vivid and repetitive and stark. By the end you're just dying for her to leave and you wish Goldman would drop into a sinkhole and stop existing. Throughout the book she talks about how she could feel herself violating her own values and harming other people but didn't have the courage to stop, and that was as painful as the ways she was hurt herself.
