Of War and Ruin by Ryan Cahill

5.0

Of War and Ruin is massive, sitting at over 400,000. Slightly longer than Way of Kings and Words of Radiance, but not quite as long as Oathbringer and Rhythm of War. And it certainly feels like it. I'm not saying that it's bad,or slow paced, in fact quite the opposite, so much happens that this easily could have been 2 books, this is especially true since the two biggest moments happen in the middle and at the end.

Anyways, this was a great time. Ryan Cahill solidifies his ability to make a classical and tropey world feel morally grey, complex and lived in. The characters are in difficult places, and have to make hard choices, and grow from them.

Fantastic, one of my favorite books of the year
