Siren Queen by Nghi Vo

Siren Queen was an interesting read. Set in alternate 1930s Hollywood, where it is normal for the studios to sacrifice actors for fame, Siren Queen is historical fiction with elements of magical realism. Nghi Vo's lyrical writing was a joy to read and great for immersion. There were similarities to [b:The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo|32620332|The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo|Taylor Jenkins Reid|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1498169036l/32620332._SY75_.jpg|46885151] but both books are entirely different from each other.

I enjoyed Siren Queen but like Nghi Vo's [b:The Chosen and the Beautiful|55169019|The Chosen and the Beautiful|Nghi Vo|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1620400751l/55169019._SY75_.jpg|84447261] I wanted MORE from this book. Maybe if it were a 100 pages longer I would have liked it more. It just felt as if there wasn't much depth to it.
Despite that, I still loved Luli's character and her story. It was a nice and quick read.
