But like, genuinely.

I know this is a book I will like, I think I just got it at the wrong time. It’s dark, with luscious prose and a sinister, sweeping plot— and yet I couldn’t find myself getting invested in it. It couldn’t hold my attention. Something about the characters felt like I was being held at an arm’s length from understanding, something just didn’t click for me and I’m not sure what it was.
