I generally don't enjoy novellas, conceptual pieces or fables...but I did enjoy this one. It is beautifully written and atmospheric and it raises interesting questions--how do we as humans (in particular, African-Americans), cultures deal with the crushing weight of so many past atrocities, losses, traumas? How does one move on, individually and collectively?
