Veronica's Dragon by Ruby Dixon
5.0
I'm happy to review another book in this world! Icehome is spin off for Ice Planet Barbarians and I've been continuing Ice Planet Barbarians and it's spin offs (yes you read that correctly. It has multiple spin offs) but I've been feeling like they're all the same; hot blue alien meets his mate and they fall in love, usually after having sex.
"If we are claiming females, the clumsy one is mine. If another male so much as looks at her, I will rip his throat out with my fangs."
But this time we have a dragon shapeshifter! I don't read many books with shapeshifters and I think the only one I've really enjoyed in years was that one book by Suzanne Wright.
Ashtar has been sold to many different masters over the years as a gladiator.
One of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much is that the hero and heroine didn't do the whole cat and mouse game. Ashtar knew the moment he saw her that he wanted her and even if "the cootie" chose him as Veronica's mate, she was insecure but didn't try to avoid having relationship with him.
All in all while I've already really enjoyed this world, this one surprised me. I was a little intimated by the size of this book but it didn't really have unnecessary drama and Ashtar and Veronica are protective af about each other. Veronica isn't afraid of him.
