As an Emily McIntire fangirl and a Wicked fanatic, I felt like this book HAD to be an automatic LOVE. However, something about it didn’t click for me as much as her other books. I don’t know if it’s because I just finished Hexed and they felt kind of similar in essence, or if audio was the wrong choice, but this is going to sit in the LIKED category for me. Don’t get me wrong, the plot was great and the Wicked/Wizard of Oz references were chef’s kiss, but I think Braden/Nick’s backstory felt skimmed over and Evelina’s blind loyalty felt off to me. I wish there was a little more vengeance involved, like in Hooked. Overall, it was a fun, quick read, but not a new favorite.
