Ghost by A. Zavarelli

Narrator Review:
Another stellar performance from Tracy Marks. She is very consistent of the portrayal of the characters in each book of this series and I highly recommend the audible book.

Story Review:
Wow! Talk about heavy. I knew Talia's story was going to be sad but I had no idea how intense it would be.

Talia was sold into sex slavery by what she thought was her boyfriend at the time. In book one of the series, her best friend Mack tried to infiltrate the Irish mob to see if she could track Talia's disappearance. We learned she was sold but details were never really given.

We get the details in Ghost and they are not easy to hear. The helplessness victims like Talia must feel and the anger for having their freedom taken away is heartbreaking.

Alexei was asked by Mack to find her and save her. He goes one step further and marries her to bring her the safety of being the wife of a Vory. However, Alexei is broken in his own way and Talia is not sure if she is trading one prison for another.

As you can see this is a pretty dark series but very well written and I am enjoying each of these couples. My only frustration is how much the women's lives are dictated by the men. That's the independent women in me talking and that makes it hard to remember that is the nature of this trope.

I purchased the kindle version of this book, however I requested an audible copy and have voluntarily left this review.
