This book is definitely camp, but I don’t think it’s trying to be. It seems to try to be a well-written and highly diverse book. But the sudden and constant plot twists, the kraken suddenly appearing in the last chapter, and the characters I hated to hate (as opposed to loving to hate) made this an exhausting read. I would have DNFed it if not for my cousin’s begging me to share in their suffering.
The fact that it’s a series… oof. I’m sure this book is for someone but it is not for my family, apparently.

Graphic: Ableism, Body horror, Confinement, Drug use, Gore, Suicidal thoughts, and Toxic relationship
