Still Unwritten by Caroline Khoury

5.0

Still Unwritten by Caroline Khoury was devoured by this reader. I suspected it would be as I devoured her first book - It Must Be Love. I was ecstatic when I learned I’d be reading it as a Tandem Collective readalong.

Fran is an aspiring actress. She’s giving herself one more chance or she’s packing it in and going back home to a life she doesn’t really want. Jae-Seung is a K-POP sensation dealing with demons and hiding from the spotlight. Together, Fran and Jae-seung embark on a journey to find what they’ve been looking for - Fran, the mother who abandoned her and Jae-seung, a life that will make him happy.

This book is a joy to read. Fran and Jae-seung’s friendship blossoms beautifully but I found I really wanted them to be more. It was what urged me to read on - I just had to find out if they got together. The hopeless romantic in me hoped they would.

But, it wasn’t just the romantic aspects of the story that grabbed me. It was the characters’ struggles and how they dealt with them. I found myself admiring Fran, on more than one occasion, for being a good person with a kind heart. I just loved her as a character. Jae-seung was likeable too, but I just felt sorry for him and his situation - he really pulled on my heartstrings.

Other characters were also enjoyable. The friendships between them are admirable and entertaining.

I love how Caroline tells a story. She draws you in with these lovely characters and keeps you engaged with their trials and tribulations. You fall in love with them, you root for them, and you celebrate with them. How could you not? Caroline makes sure you do!

I highly recommend this book.
