“I didn’t fall for you twice because I never stopped loving you.
Through everything that tried to separate us–forgotten memories, lost time–it’s always been you…Starlight.”
I wasn’t sure about continuing this series at first, but this sequel changed everything.
It’s a lot more action-packed and emotional; it has all the elements I wished for more in the previous book.
The Night is Defying started right after the ending of the previous book, providing just enough information to jog my memory so I could keep up with the plot easily enough.
I love the dual timeline and dual POVs, which allowed me to discover more about the events in the past through different perspective of the two main characters, Nyte and Aestrea.
I really enjoyed seeing Aestrea’s journey as she battles to regain her memories and learn more about her powers. Not to mention, she also has to deal with a mischievous and tempting Nyte who always riled her up but always support her for who she is not for what she is.
It was impossible not to root for Nyte and Aestrea when it seems like fate always keeping them apart, yet they keep coming back for each other despite it all. Their love was tested with every obstacle, it was heart-wrenching but also admirable.
The last few chapters are so intense, I didn’t want to take my eyes off of my Kindle, afraid I’m gonna missed something.
All the chaos, betrayals and display of power in the final battle kept me on the edge of my seat!
Overall, this was an improvement to the previous book; more captivating with plot twists and significant character development.
Some parts are a little slow but that HUGE CLIFF-HANGER at the end just made me eager to pick up book 3 in this trilogy for more of Nyte and Aestrea. They deserved the happy ending they’ve fought so hard for!
I received an advanced review copy through Netgalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Huge thank you to the author and publisher!
