Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
4.0
*I received an ARC of this book from the publisher*
3.5/5 ⭐️s
This book was one massive miscommunication trope, and it was endearing until it wasn’t.
Briana and Jacob’s fake dating set-up was ADORABLE. They were perfect, and I loved how hard they both fell for the other. Jacob is one of those MMCs you can’t help but fall a bit in love with because he’s such a cinnamon roll, and Briana is fiercely loyal and protective of him. This book was a full five stars for most of it because of how wonderful their love story was.
I did think, however, that it took too long for them to both acknowledge their feelings to each other - it felt drawn out and unnecessary. I wish we’d gotten more time of them being a “real” happy couple instead.
One thing I always love about Abby’s books is her representation. In Yours Truly, Jacob’s anxiety is portrayed so well. From obsessing over an interaction nobody else gave a second thought to, to googling places he’d be going to plan parking or food choices, to having a social battery that made normal interactions difficult when it was depleted…I’ve never connected more to a character. It was so well-written, and I loved how Briana was able to understand that part of him to make him more at ease. By far my favorite part of this book.
