This is my first book by L.B. Simmons, so once I read the blurb for this book I just knew I had to read it! I'm actually really glad I got an ARC (thank you to Inkslinger PR!) and could experience the resurrection of Aubrey Miller firsthand. But what is it about? Exactly that. A resurrection.

Aubrey Miller has lost almost everyone she loved and blamed herself for their death. Because she thinks she is death. To protect the remaining people who were close to her she chose a life in isolation and loneliness so she won't hurt them. As she enters college everything's about to change drastically - she finds her long-lost childhood friend Kaeleb and has to live with the ever-happy Quinn Matthews as her roommate. Her plans of not letting anyone get too close to her start to crumble as they both fight their way into Aubrey's heart and slowly crack the shells she's build around her. But with a past like Aubrey's ... is she even able to be normal again? Especially if death once again tries to take away the ones she loves?

I got to admit that I didn't quite feel as much as I wanted to. Don't get me wrong, it's emotional and you certainly feel something for the characters and especially for Aubrey but I could have been a bit more invested in them, I think. Maybe it's my fault, I don't know, but nevertheless I still liked with Aubrey, the main character. She has been through a lot (seriously) and it just breaks your heart once you find out what had happened to her and her family in the past ... it's just sad. No wonder she completely shut herself in and didn't want others to get too close to her. I somehow understood her. It's not always so easy. I guess that's also why I admired her so much in the end - she's changed so much throughout this book and is so strong - it felt good to read that!

Kaeleb McMadden is ... swoon-worthy. He's Aubrey's childhood friend which she has always loved and now that she found him again it's so cute to read about them - well, the happy moments at least. I just liked how he was always there for her but also their friend Quinn despite his own problems. He's handsome, charming, funny and generally amazing. *sigh*

All the other side characters were great too! I loved almost everyone of them. The same goes for the storyline - I never really got boring and I was only annoyed one time! In the end it was probably for the best but at that very moment I just ugh, no. And speaking of the end ... it was fantastic. I loved it so, so much and it made me absolutely happy! It's probably the most perfect ending Aubrey and her friends could have found and I'm so glad about it.

Overall it's an amazing read! I got into it with little expectations, so I definitely wasn't disappointed. Quite the opposite, I highly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend this to others! Grab it and read it! :)
