This book was so unique. I couldn't put it down and I couldn't stop thinking about the concept V.E. Schwab had taken on and what this book turned out to be. It was such a wild ride and it definitely had its darker side. Victor and Eli both blurred the lines between hero and villain and it was the perfect anti-hero type of story. I was captivated from the first page and I think the idea of possessing special capabilities, thanks to near-death experiences was so completely new and interesting. I loved the multiple narration tactic as well as the flipping back and forth between the past and the present. I actually loved the darkness of it all and the contrasts between a lot of the characters. I liked the modern type of setting with fantastical elements. I also really enjoyed all the secondary characters, especially Sydney, and how well they helped moved the story along. This book was seriously so good and I'm so excited to read the sequel.
