Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

What a whirlwind of emotions i felt throughout this book
It feels fitting that one of my favourite reads of the year would be something written by TJR
She has this amazing ability to write about everyday life & characters, especially strong female leads, with all of their flaws. Somehow this writing always ends up as a masterpiece
This is the kind of book you have annotations on every second page for because it sticks with you that much

Something Nina Riva said in Malibu Rising kept popping into my head while reading this

How was it that this woman could shout out every thought running through her head? Why was it that Carrie Soto felt entitled to scream? … What a world she must live in, Nina thought, where you can piss and moan and stomp your feet and cry in public and yell at the people who hurt you. That you can dictate what you will and will not accept.

I loved that quote then and I loved it even more while reading this book as we saw Carrie in action navigating the world and more specifically, the tennis world while trying to find herself.

All this to say, I’m about to go make tennis my whole personality now
