Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini
4.0
This was very interesting to read. Mr. Cialdini did an excellent job of writing a scholarly text that is accessible and doesn't immediately make you want to take a nap.
Even though the book has been updated, a lot of the original examples and case studies in the book are old. However, the conclusions drawn are timeless, whether the example used to put the science on display is antiquated or not. For me, some of the outdated pop-culture references also gave the book a sense of nostalgia and an endearing quality.
All of this aside, if you are interested in human behavior, this book is a very valuable tool. It takes what can feel like abstract concepts and very nicely puts them into real-world connotation, making the concepts easy to understand.
