Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
5.0
Hello Clockwork Angel, i finally finished you, welcome to the "books-i-am-currently-obsessing-rn-list." Please join acotar and soc, don't be shy. just so you know *leans closer and whispers* i didn't expect you to be here but i'm really, really glad you get to join us.
Set in the beautiful history of the year 1878 at London, Clockwork Angel is the first book in The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare. It is the prequel of The Mortal Instruments (which i didnt read).
It follows a young girl named, Tessa Gray, who moved from New York to London. there she found out that her older brother was missing and then she's been kidnapped by the Dark Sisters. she also learned more about her own unique powers, about the institute, the clave, the nephilim, vampires and other creatures, and more shadowhunter stuff. while learning about those stuff, she met some friends, a group of people, who helped her and it looks like the place where she belongs.
As i said earlier, i didn't read TMI, i dnfed it at City of Bones. it was boring and i hated it. so, when i started this book, i had low expectations. but boy, this was SOOO GOOD. At 20% i knew i was gonna add this to my "2021-faves" and i'm really glad. this book did not disappoint.
The plot twists, i really enjoyed them. it was so adventurous, thrilling, fun, and i was liking for how the story goes. you would found me shrieking after reading a rousing chapter. and i don't usually like long chapters for some reason but so far, the writing style in this book is okay with me.
For the characters. I AM INLOVE WITH WILL AND JEM. i also find the love triangle rep here intriguing (and i'm nervous for what the end will be ehehe).
Will. I love reading in Will's pov. i badly need a tall, handsome, sarcastic and mysterious William Owen Herondale right now. contact me if you found one.
Jem. If no one could give me a will. please help me find a quiet, gentle, kind, violinist and silver-haired boy named James Carstairs instead. again, just contact me.
Tessa, the main character. i like how caring she is to others and how she loves books. i am invested in finding about her past, on where her special powers came from. still, i adore will and jem more than her.
Charlotte and Henry are like the parental figures (but mostly charlotte). Jessamine is a brat but i dont really hate her. Sophie is a beautiful girl and i actually like her character so much. Thomas and Agatha, they deserve more. And lastly, even tho i havent read that much about the vampire, Camille, i find her pretty cool and a badass.
The antagonists or the villians are also interesting. meheheh i got a good guess at the end part of the book. *proud of myself*
Overall, i love it!! forgot about the fact that it took me a week to finish this eheheh. i love it and i need to read clockwork prince asap and cry uncontrollably.

“One must always be careful of books," said Tessa, "and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”

"Let me give you a piece of advice. The handsome young fellow who's trying to rescue you from a hideous fate is never wrong. Not even if he says the sky is purple and made of hedgehogs."
