I’m so obsessed and attracted to Alma. Seriously. The crush I have on her is like.. 75% of the reason why I finished the book. She’s brimming with gender-fluid, bisexual chaos and she’s equal parts violent as she is horny and it made her such an interesting character to follow. For this exact reason, I almost wish the story was more character driven than it was plot driven. The actual plot of the book started off great but then it got to a point where it became convoluted. Plot twists upon plot twists, new characters being introduced on every other page, setbacks upon setbacks… it genuinely got to a point where the stakes were so consistently high that the overall energy of the book plateaued and the climax of the book failed at being shocking. It’s the calm before the storm that makes the storm a big deal and sometimes it feels like this story forgets that. Still, this was a very fun read and seriously I need Alma in a carnal, animalistic way.
