Uzumaki: Spiral Into Horror, Vol. 3 by Junji Ito
4.0
4 Stars... still really good but definitely my least favorite of all the volumes.
I was invested in the characters and their stories, especially Kirie and Shuichi. However, I think my biggest issue with this volume is just how out of control and big it got. The scariest and most meaningful chapters are when it's small and more personal. This volume was just too much, too big, and too out there for me.
I did like that this volume was the most cohesive of all the volumes. Each chapter blended into the next and really connected to one another, such that I felt like I was following a novel rather than an anthology with a similar theme.
I think I just started losing my grasp on the secret of the spiral when it became this all-encompassing, surrealist, magical I also felt that the ending was too abrupt and I couldn't quite understand it. Maybe I'm just dumb... haha if someone could explain to me what ended up happening, that would be great.
I also wish that the last chapter, Galaxy, was integrated earlier in the series because it felt like it didn't fully have the impact it could have because in the chapter before we concluded the main story already.
Overall, I had a great time getting lost in the world of spirals and can't wait to read more Junji Ito.
