What a journey The Mask Falling felt to be. There were so many phases to the story but the strongest thing I felt about this book was the strength of connection between Paige and Arcturus. Secrets long held were revealed and still their care for one another prevailed and trust abounded. Erm and then Shannon took my security away.

Seeing Paige in recovery from her captivity and torture was it's own torture. Her body was brought so low and that theme was sustained throughout book four. As someone who lives with a persistent, pervasive cough, I literaly felt her pain at times, especially when she was trying to be quiet and the cough was bubbling up (that made me laugh because there's no way).

The new alliances with the Parisian underground were interesting but we were never far from old friends and enemies. Jaxon raised his revolting head as did some unwelcome Rephs. There was a new scary Reph on the block who I got severe creeps from and alongside that the French Scion leader was foul in his planning.

The twists in this story were unreal. One twist in relation to a secret was shocking. Even more was the last 20% of this book. I stress-read it on a weekend morning, pushing interruption away because I needed the answers and found myself with an almighty question mark. I do feel for all the folks who've had the long wait for book 5 and lucky me, I can pick it up soon.

There were so many Arcturus moments and dialogue that captured my attention. He is the Reph of few words but when they come, they mean so much. Paige and Arcturus are so page-worthy it is ridiculous and are fast becoming a favourite couple.
