The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together by Heather McGhee

challenging informative inspiring medium-paced

5.0

I don't have a good way of describing how much I loved this book and how important I think it is. This book took a heavy difficult topic and made it accessible and uplifting. I don't mean to imply that there is anything wrong with books that strike a different tone and have left me sitting with my discomfort and having to take long breaks while reading to process; that work is also important and necessary. But I really really loved the way the author interwove stories about the despicable racism of our country's past and present with hopeful stories about people coming together to make change. This should be required reading, it was so good.
