Kingdom of Forgotten Curses: Book 1 of The Stolen Royalty Series by Autumn Kaufer, Autumn Kaufer

4.25

Now I love that this book took Beauty and the Beast and rewrote it in a way that was not stereotypical. The Prince is cursed after not aiding a disguised fairy, though in this story, he becomes a vampire and his staff are bound to the lands, any trying to flee the grounds will turn to stone. Less than 80 years later, a steward of the king finds a land that has not paid taxes. In visiting these lands, he chooses to take a rose, something that the lord finds as stealing and punishable by life in the dungeon, leaving behind his 3 daughters. This is where his youngest daughter Bellamina "Mina" comes into his life.

This book has fated mates, who did this to you, hidden identities, touch her and die, and several common tropes. I found it interesting that not only did the author take this as a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but also intertwines Dracula vibes. This made the story more intriguing.

While the end was a little drawn out. I think it felt longer as there was more to this curse than just the MMC's. As most people are familiar with the B&TB timeline, this may make the ending extra for another reader as there is more to this story than meets the eye.
