Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders by Vincent Bugliosi
5.0
This is one of the best true crime books I've ever read! I think we all know of or have heard of the Manson Murders so I won't bore people too much but for those that don't know in August 1969 seven horrifying murders were committed by Charles Manson and his 'family'. There have always been so many various theories surrounding these murders, including occult practices and satanic rituals but nothing could ever be proven and no one understood how Manson held some sort of unknown power over his followers who were all considered to be a 'family'. This book is so thorough and really goes through every small detail in chronological order of the events that occurred throughout this case but also left some unanswered questions that personally I don't think anyone knows the answers too other than Manson and his 'family'. However it gives you a lot of things to think about in regards to this case and other cases in relation to police proceedings. I won't say too much about my opinion on the investigation side of things in regards to the police because it will give away spoilers but if you love true crime I highly recommend reading this book. TW: this book contains graphic descriptions depicting the murders and graphic images of crime scenes and bodies.
