Gothic. Queer. Beautiful. I don't even have the appropriate words. The prose in this book is stunning. I wanted it to go on forever. It is a retelling of the brides of Dracula.
We are following Constanta, who is a diarist. She is writing in letter form to her husband and Sire. It is a quick read, packed with so much heart, love, intensity, and beauty. The Queer representation in a dracula story was enough to make my heart melt.
I was absolutely hooked from the dedication. I knew I was interested in this book, and I knew it was going to be good. There was no way I was prepared for the absolute overwhelm and love I would feel from the first page to the last. I felt so seen in this story. The way it is written only makes it more emotionally personal.
