Adult dark high fantasy romance. Beautiful. Hard to believe this is a debut novel. Can’t wait for book 2. I’ve seen people compare this to ACOTAR. This is not ACOTAR. Not even a little bit. This is dark and gritty (and superior).

Strong, willful FMC. Dark, dominant MMC. Spicy, suspenseful. The world building was lovely. The plot intriguing. Loved all the characters. There’s a lot of them so this isn’t something you want to burn through. You need to take it at a steady pace. She included religious commentary as well as commentary on M/F social constructs but neither were heavy handed.

The ending is a cliffhanger but gives you just enough. Be sure to read the epilogue. It does however need an editor. Specifically a copy editor. There are a lot of grammatical errors which is frustrating. Dropped text, missing spaces between words, the use of the word ‘necrophilia’ when clearly it should have been ‘somnophilia’ based on scene context. Hoping more care is taken with book 2 as the author is an absolutely lovely writer.
