I am so thankful to have been chosen by @authorjenniferkropf to be an ARC reader again for book two. These are my honest thoughts in exchange!

I loved diving back into this world and getting a new couple! I wasn’t quite sure how multiple books would play out, if we were going to keep following Kate and Cress or what, but I was pleasantly surprised that each of our Fae Assassins will be getting a love story!

I enjoyed getting a deeper look into Mor’s character and his history. He intrigued me the most out of our Fae men and peeling back that curtain was so enticing. He is just as broody and secretive as he was in book one, but he has a heart of gold under that tough exterior.

The world building continues to be phenomenal and I love the way the cafe still plays a part in this story, despite the distance Mor attempts to create. We get a more in depth look at the Fae world through flashbacks, and needless to say I’m glad I don’t live there. This isn’t your happy go lucky Fae realm, it’s a place filled with darkness and hatred. It’s made all the worse knowing that the enemies on the other side are waiting on their chance to struck at our High Court of Beans.

The dialogue and humor is top tier writing. Shayne remains my favorite as he knows just what jokes to land and when. He brought me many laugh out loud moments and I can’t wait to get to his book!

Violet, our FMC, brings a specific mystery to this series and I enjoyed unraveling all those threads. She isn’t quite a damsel in distress, but she does have a few moments where she needed rescuing, and no one rescues quite like Mor.

In a romance world filled with spice, reading this “clean” romance was a breath of fresh air. You don’t even realize that the spice is missing as the romance story more than makes up for it!
