Kate In Waiting by Becky Albertalli
5.0
Can I call Albertalli one of my favorite authors? After giving all the books I have read by her five stars, I think I can.
Where to start…This book was so much more complex and complicated than I thought it was going to be and I mean that in a positive way. I loved Kate, Anderson, Matt and Noah, Ryan and the rest of their friends. They felt so real and in some way Albertalli made me feel like I was a part of their little gang of friends. I loved that.
Kate & Anderson are very codependent in the beginning but throughout the book they explore theirselves and figure out who they are on their own. All thanks to Matt, the boy they both fall in love with. Did I ship Kate with Matt? Absolutely not. Team Noah from the first interaction with him. Who did she end up with? You will have to read the book to find out.
Albertalli’s writing is extremely unique and easy to read. Her books are impossible to put down and I always tend to get very attached to her characters. Like mentioned above they feel real and so so human, which I think is why the readers love them.
Only thing that might fall under the “negative” category is that I wanted to lock Kate and Anderson in a room and make them talk to each other sometimes. BUT it also made sense that their emotions took overhand and both were a bit stubborn/guilty/sad/jealous/insecure or all of the above.
Now I’m gonna go and order all of Becky’s other books.
