Tales of the Peculiar by Ransom Riggs

5.0

Miss Peregrine´s Home for Peculiar Children is one of my favourite series, so I was naturally very exited for Tales of the Peculiar - and I wasn´t disappointed. I feel like this collection succeeded perfectly at what it was supposed to be: a story book for children with peculiar abilities. Every detail from Millard´s foreword and observations to the footnotes and from the beautiful illustrations to the physical form of the book made this feel like an authentic collection of Peculiardom´s most loved fairy tales. Each story is different and original, skillfully written and filled with extraordinary characters. They teach important lessons about life, peculiar life in particular. I enjoyed reading this collection immensely, though some stories more than others. Also, Tales of the Peculiar might be the most gorgeous book I own. Usually I don´t think that aesthetics really matter while reading a book, but with this one all the little details added a whole new level to the reading experience. This is publishing done right!
