Bloodstone by M.J. Mallon

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Bloodstone is a coming of age story that follows Amelina, a fifteen year old girl who is trying to make sense of her strange life and also trying to figure out how to fix her relationship with her parents and her dad in general who had been cursed. She is also drawn to a mysterious sixth form student named Ryder.

This was a really interesting book to read. I was drawn into it right away. I was initially expecting more action from it but I ended up being fine with the way things were. It was kind of hard to keep track of things at times especially when weird things would happen to Amelina but overall that wasn't too bad.

Her relationship with Ryder alarmed me throughout the book but I tried to keep in mind the fact that she was fifteen, had no relationship experience especially not abusive ones and also had a bad relationship with her parents. But thankfully she seems to realize the danger farther along in the book.

While this book did wrap things up pretty well, I am definitely looking forward to the next book as there were many questions still left unanswered.

Overall 4/5 stars
