3.5
3 stars, with that .5 tacked on for the ending, because while the rest of the book was mediocre, the last few chapters shone.
A predictable plot with predictable twists, with a protagonist I don't have a strong opinion of, considering she's very YA-ish in her "I'm not like other girls"-ness and that's not my cup of tea.
But a delightfully executed ending, and fun world building I found myself invested in all the same. Often, endings in this type of book are rushed and rely on some (far too quickly introduced) McGuffin or deus ex machina - not here.
