An Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson

1.5

I found this one just okay. The characters and relationships didn’t compel me like they did in Dowry of Blood. Gibson uses similar themes and relationships, and it didn’t feel particularly different or inventive. I disliked the POV system as it takes a lot of intrigue out to give us both Carmilla and Laura’s perspectives. There’s also a lot of exposition for the setting and people and they just get left behind at a certain point. I also didn’t care much for the setting; college stories aren’t particularly interesting to me, and this cemented that for me. I did enjoy the bit about Laura reading erotica in the library and taking inspiration from it.
