Purity in Death by J.D. Robb

4.0

A small-time drug dealer goes crazy and beats his neighbors. A known pedophile also shows the same symptoms of rage and orificial bleeding. It also hits an EDD man working on the drug dealer's computer. Is it just the heat? Or is something more sinister going on?
Well, considering that the same computer message shows up on the personal computers of the first two and eventually more people. Troy Truehart, a recurring character in the series, is the first cop on the original scene and accidentally kills the drug dealer. His first call is to Eve which brings her into the case. This is a high profile case and she'll have to juggle the publicity arm of the mayor's office with her own desire to see justice done.
This is also the book where Tibble tells Eve that she's "made choices that have prevented you from becoming the youngest female captain in the NYPSD."
