A Peep at Stranraer's Past by Donnie Nelson
4.0
Donnie's collection of historical photographs was so impressive, and there's a good selection chronicled here, fairly well explained. For a man who once took a read pen to the first pages of a novella I wrote (aged 10), there's a bizarre number of grammar errors - he uses commas at random, to the point that some sentences are quite hard to work out. This isn't a huge deal, though. There's no attempt to analyse history, or make any more academic statements, so it's rare that there's a point to really be missed. But it's nice reading a simple account of local history. I hope Donnie's collection, now he's passed on, can be digitised and made available to the public. It's an important thing to have.
