Red Alert: An NYPD Red Mystery by Marshall Karp, James Patterson
3.0
What I Did Like:
-Fast read. One of the things I like about Patterson’s writing is the fast pace with which the story moves and the short chapters. These two things combine to mean you’re going to keep turning those pages and finish the book quickly. I enjoy the speed with which his plots move along.
-Kylie. I continue to love her reckless style. I kind of like the idea that they took this cowboy cop who doesn’t follow the rules and genderbent it.
-Twists and turns. This one follows three cases, possibly four, and that brings in a lot of twists. I liked following all the threads and enjoyed trying to figure it out. I also really liked the turn of the ending.
Who Should Read This One:
-You don’t have to read these in order. So, I would say if the idea of a team of detectives dedicated to serving the elite in New York appeals to you, give this series a try.
-If you like the idea of a female cowboy style cop, give this one a try.
-Also, if you like mysteries to be fast paced and don’t mind if the police procedure isn’t exactly letter-of-the-law in your fiction, you’ll like this one.
My Rating: 3 stars. It may have been a 2, but that final turn of the ending brought it up.
