Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch
5.0
I am completely in love with this book. My friend had suggested it to me ever since last year and we had a readalong together a few days ago.
Such a great story. Linaʼs character development is amazing. I love how unexpected Lina and Renʼs relationship was. With Ren together with Mimi, and Lina smitten of Thomas. I didnʼt see it coming at all. But after Thomas shown his brat, rich daddy, show-off side, I knew that they werenʼt gonna end up together.
Matteo was a complete shithead to deny Hadleyʼs journal and to deny Lina as his rightful daughter. He just doesnʼt want to take responsibility and that sucks. God bless for Howard. Despite not being Linaʼs biological father, he still wants to be there for her, to raise and care for her as his own after Hadleyʼs passing. Truly touching.
The sites mentioned in the book too made me felt like I was in Italy with them. Itʼs wonderful when a book can make you feel as if you travelled the world meanwhile you are just in the comfort of your own bedroom, reading of all these places while the characters are the ones who are living in it, seeing it, experiencing it. The last time I felt as if I was transported to somewhere was with the book Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. It felt like I was in Paris with Anna and Étienne. But this, made me feel as if I was there living in the cemetery with Lina, Howard and Sonia. Running to Rome with Ren. Visiting Space with the others. Seeing paintings. Itʼs amazing. Hope I get to travel soon and experience all of this live in the future.
