Spider Bones by Kathy Reichs

3.0

I’m a little sad about this book. I am a big fan of all the books in the series so far with the exception of one other so it saddens me that I was torn between a 2 and a 3.

For starters it was very slow to catch my attention and make me want to keep reading. Almost every book I’ve read in the series to date reached a point (sometime quickly, sometimes a little further in) that I did not want to stop and would consider cancelling plans to stay home and keep reading. This book i reaches a point where I just wanted to keep reading in hopes it would be over.

Secondly, I could not keep straight which body was which and where all these missing people kept coming from. It almost seemed like they needed some filler and room for potential curve balls for a story that you could tell pretty quickly that some how the guy in the lake dodged the war and someone took his place.

Lastly, Katy really annoyed me in this book. I feel like she was ungrateful and yes I understand she is grieving but in no way should that make you feel like the world owes you! The more and more she is present in the books the less and less I like her.

On a positive not it was a nice break from the typical someone breaks in to temperance’s apartment, kidnaps her, and almost kills her with Ryan coming to her rescue (yes I know there was still an attempt on her life but at least she mixed it up a little)

Lengthy review and I apologize but hopefully I’m not the only one with this thoughts and sentiments. Looking forward to the next one with hopes it will save this for me.
