This is a truly stunning fairytale, when I finished I went and read the Russian tale it was based on and could see how they were connected but just was not impressed with it.
Catherynne M. Valente made this a story of a powerful woman whose true vice was that her timeline was already set out for her.

The writing was so beautiful, I could see every tiny corner of that world sharply in my mind and I loved every character so deeply I wanted none of it to end.

I want to read it again already despite only just having finished.
