Just by reading the synopsis, I was immediately intrigued by the plot and had a feeling I was going to love this story. This story was about Tate and how from a young age she had always kept the secret of how her father really was (you find out in the story why she keeps it a secret) and how the meeting with a guy named, Sam changed her life. In addition, how subsequently following the events of her identity being revealed, years later she became a famous actress, and may or may not have been brought back to Sam under unconventional circumstances.
The story opened with Tate fourteen years ago when she and her grandma, Jude went to London to celebrate Tate’s eighteenth birthday. For Tate being in London was a dream come true and the opportunity to get out of her small town. While in London, Tate met Sam, also visiting London with his grandpa, Luther. Tate and Sam immediately started to develop a connection and would always meet at night to watch the stars and just talk, hang out. I really liked Tate and Sam’s late night hang out’s because it not only showed Tate living a little, but also opening up to someone and letting them know all about her. Although once Tate and Sam’s relationship started to develop into more romantic I though, “oh maybe nothing bad will happen after all”, um no I was wrong because of course something was going to happen, after all it was mentioned in the synopsis. In a way by setting up the beginning in the past it really set up the story nicely so then it would transition from the idyllic romance of Tate and Sam to the (unfortunate) blow out betrayal that Tate experienced to the present.
When Tate was on set for her most anticipated film, and she found out that Sam was the screenwriter who wrote the film, I was shocked and surprised for Tate. I was also a bit angry for Tate as well. Seeing how Tate was shocked at being confronted by Sam after so many years was an unexpected surprise for her and not the good kind at that. I was definitely on Tate’s side, but I also couldn’t help feeling bad for Sam. Then later on, when Sam revealed his reasoning behind his betrayal to Tate, it made sense but also tugged at my heart strings. At the time when Sam and Tate were in London, Sam was faced with a painful decision that ultimately changed Tate’s life, but also resulted in him losing her, and Tate losing that sense of security she believed she had with Sam.
Although afterwards once Sam and Tate cleared the air between them, it seemed like they started to build back up the natural connection they once shared many years ago from when they were younger. I found Tate and Sam’s chemistry lovely and sweet, and despite the set back of what drew them apart, they were able to find their way back to each other.
This story had a little bit of everything from the Hollywood scene of acting, movies, second chance romance, obstacles that’s Tate and Sam had to overcome, lighthearted energy, and the sweet yet all consuming love and romance that Tate and Sam had for each other. Definitely a good book to read and would recommend.
