This is such a solid MG series. The group of main characters is lovable, the writing is really good, and the blend of magic and technology is fun and it gives an interesting background to the story. The friendships are heartfelt and well-developed. I hope the relationship between Amari and her brother is explored more deeply in the next books because the conflict and the different opinions in this book opened the door for interesting conversations. As for the ending, it was absolutely heartbreaking and completely unexpected.
