Illusion of Stars by Sarah Marie Page
medium-paced
4.0
“How do you put pain on a page? How do you say goodbye?”
“You wouldn’t poison me. You like my tattoo too much.”
“Of course you’d make this awkward.”
I liked both the FMC and the MMC. They both felt like interesting characters, and I enjoyed their development. I liked the chemistry between them, but I would have loved to see more buildup and tension in the enemies-to-lovers arc.
I liked the side characters and would love to learn more about them.
The pacing was slower at the beginning and picked up towards the end. The last few chapters felt a bit rushed, but otherwise, the pacing was okay. There was time to explain things, but it didn’t feel sluggish.
The magic system seemed really interesting, and I would have liked to learn more about it. Also, I would have loved to see a bit more world-building at the beginning of the book.
Can’t wait to read more.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
