The Deepest Well: Healing the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Adversity by Nadine Burke Harris
5.0
#90 of 2019
Milton Alexander and Camelot recommended this book. It is a closer look at the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) study and how it applies to not only education, but your health and the medical world.
This book was very insightful and helped me to better understand how a high ACE score can affect a students' health and education. It also continued to send the message that ACEs are not solely a poverty problem, but a human problem. My ACE score is 1; my husband's ACE score is 9. Max is 10. I think it is important for the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) conversation to include more accurate knowledge based on data instead of just assumptions, and this book provides that knowledge.
