Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston
1.0
DISCLAIMER: I'm in a very bad place right now, so I'm not intentionally coming for anyone with this review. I just have zero filter and give zero fucks at the moment, so I may seem way harsher than I usually would. If people love this book, I'm really happy that you do, but it just wasn't for me, and these are the thoughts that kept going through my head while reading it:
This is the tropiest book to ever trope.
There isn't an original word on any of these pages! Or, maybe Amari's backstory counts, but if you compare it to Harry Potter -which everyone does - it's not original. It's pretty much a mash-up of Harry and Ron, and then you throw in some Hermione to top of Amari's personality.
This book feels like the first book I ever wrote. When I was a tween, you know? When you have so many ideas, and they have to be super original, for who else can think of this?! And, of course, you don't know that you can save those ideas for later books, oh no, you have to include them all in one book/world! Which leaves you with a hot mess of a world. Which is this book.
Yeah, no. This really isn't for me. It isn't even that well written. The only reason I even finished it, is because I can't afford to buy any new books on Audible.
