We Are All the Same in the Dark’ by Julia Heaberlin is a haunting thriller that I devoured in one day.

It’s set against the backdrop of a small Texas town and weaves together the dark secrets and various traumas, and a bunch of mystery. It kept me guessing until pretty close to the end when I suddenly said “omg it was…!!” …and I was right!

Every single one of the characters has some deep seated flaws but Odette and Angel really shine through with their resilience and determination. By the end of the book, I even found myself really feeling for Wyatt.

Julia Heaberlin has done a great job of creating some incredibly vivid descriptions that provide a tense atmosphere to keep you on the edge of your seat and let you almost hear the ghosts whispering in your ear.

There were a few questions that I felt were left unanswered but the twists and turns throughout the story more than made up for it.

If you’re a fan of mystery thrillers with a Southern vibe, this one is for you!
