I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK!
It was so cute and romantic, and I loved it a lot! It was kind of predictable at times, but in the best sort of way - the way that a lot of romantic comedies are. Both the main characters (June and Oliver) were likable, and I liked their dynamic, and the way they interacted. It was cute, funny, and endearing, and I loved it! I'm really excited for this book to come out - I'm already recommending it to friends! It really is 'When Harry Met Sally', but for teens.
I liked how there are the short chapters from prom night, interspersed with the present-day story, because they make it seem like prom is going one way, and it actually goes differently. The storyline about her dad was pretty interesting and heartbreaking, and very unexpected. I also really liked the friendship dynamics - between the moms, and between all the characters.
I also really like how there are so many queer characters, and that their relationships and everything about them is so normalized - like it's not a 'coming-out story' - idk, i'm kind of tired of the only queer characters i read about to be tortured about their sexuality, and coming out.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable story, I really loved reading it, and I had so much fun with it. It was kind of predictable, but not completely - there were still parts that took me by surprise. I was expecting to like it, but I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did!
