Did not finish book. Stopped at 43%.
I just can't get past the age gap. I know 6ish years isn't really that huge of a gap, but the fact that they met when they were 10 and 16 and the older one looked at and treated the younger one like a literal brother for 7 years before suddenly all in one swoop feeling sexual attraction as a 23 year old to someone who is still a minor was more creepy than endearing. There needed to be a more subtle shift or a big gap of time apart before these feelings popped up. And the fact that the younger kids parents and family are like "Yes! Finally! He's so cute!" and are cheering it on is... ugh. I know that there's supernatural elements at play and I do like that the older character never did anything remotely groomer-y, but I just can't get behind the whole relationship. I don't like it. And there were two other brothers RIGHT THERE that were much more age appropriate that could have worked. Honestly, I don't really like the writing style all that much either. It's probably supposed to be poetic and lyrical but I find it choppy and awkward and annoying.
So despite making it almost halfway, I just don't care to finish.
