The Counselors by Jessica Goodman

mysterious tense fast-paced

4.5

It’s great for a YA thriller and I think it works really well for that audience. I had a great time reading it but I wasn’t shocked or surprised by any of the reveals. I saw a bunch of them coming early on— and this is where I think it works for YA because I don’t know if younger readers would pick up on all the clues as easily. But I could be totally wrong and I don’t want to dismiss anyone’s intelligence!

I liked these characters a lot (even though I wasn’t a fan of some of the names) and I just really enjoy this horror/thriller stories that take place at camp.
Fun, tense, fast paced thriller that takes place at a summer camp. Every other chapter is Then/Now and it works really well to tell the story. I probably wouldn’t read this one again but I will recommend it.

I realized Meg was Sally as soon as Goldie say the photocopied debit cards. Commenting on the handwriting gave it away cause she talked about Meg’s handwriting early on. And then when Cal thought he recognized her at the bar that just sealed the deal. Then of course Stu and Mellie were involved with Mark Cantor’s tax fraud and all that. And of course of course they are the ones who killed Heller. It just seemed obvious
