The Wren in the Holly Library by K.A. Linde
3.0
I would have rated this book higher, but the heist itself felt very boring to me and I skimmed most of it. Then the ending just left me disappointed.
Romantasy authors always do this “you betrayed me” thing at the end of their books and it always feels forced. Maybe it was portrayed poorly throughout the book but I did not have the feeling this “betrayal” would be as dramatized as it ended up being. The “betrayal” is always some half truth that would have been revealed anyway, but because the antagonist said it first it’s “betrayal.” To me, it always reads as an excuse for another book and/or romantic build up again. Just disappointing.
